Theory
Our theory classes are held at Inverurie Town Hall (5 weekly sessions) starting Tuesday 19th April ending 17th May. During the evening classes you will be guided through the IAM’s driving manual “How to be a better driver”. There are presentations with videos to make digesting the information easier, interesting and fun! We also have guest speakers. You will also get a chance to meet the Observers and the other Associates on the course over a cup of coffee or tea.
As driving is a practical skill you could not improve your driving without going on the road too! So our qualified Observers will give you guidance and support in town and country, giving you the opportunity to put into practice the theory you have learned! Assessment Runs can be undertaken by appointment if desired, prior to signing up for a course. Assessment runs take place in the Associate’s own car which MUST be taxed, MOT’d
(If required) and Insured for the driver’s use. The Drivers must also hold a full licence for the category of vehicle they are driving.
On the Road -
Gordon Advanced Motorists offer the IAM ‘Skill for Life’ package which includes the following items:
- Membership for one year of Gordon Advanced Motorists, free guidance to prepare for IAM Advanced Driving Test.
- The IAMs driving manual
- Associate membership of the IAM
- A real ‘Skill for Life’
The fee is currently only £139. Courses run every April. Once you have joined our
group and have passed the Advanced Driving Test you can train to be an Observer -
A limited number of under 26s’ will be able to claim half the cost back on successful completion of the course.
